By recognizing barriers as the source of disability, we can work towards solutions to eliminate them. Embracing disability as a form of diversity is central to our values. TROtt aspires to lead by example in promoting excellence in accessibility and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

Statement of Commitment to Accessibility

The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt) values and promotes the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities by creating an accessible and welcoming environment. Our commitment involves ensuring a barrier-free and safe setting for participants, volunteers, staff, visitors, applicants and stakeholders involved in our programs. TROtt will actively support and facilitate accommodations for individuals with disabilities to ensure equitable access to all our opportunities and activities. We adhere to the principles of dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Customer Service Standard, and Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).

TROtt will identify, eliminate and prevent social, communication and physical barriers that hinder the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in our activities. TROtt is committed to proactively removing barriers through inclusive design and promoting positive attitudes that combat “ableism” – attitudes that diminish the potential of individuals with disabilities. We will integrate accessibility into our policies, procedures, training, and operational guidelines.
