TROtt
Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa Carleton
The Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROtt) has been providing therapeutic riding lessons and other equine-assisted programs for over 50 years. TROtt is the only CanTRA accredited facility in the Ottawa area and all of our instructors and facilitators are certified professionals.

About TROtt

We are proud of our program and of the support we provide for families in our community. What makes our program so significant is TROtt supports the Canadian standardization of therapeutic riding instruction and has Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA) and Equestrian Canada certified instructors.
CanTRA is a member of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) and is recognized as the only governing body for therapeutic riding in Canada. In February 2010, TROtt was awarded Accreditation Status by CanTRA and we continue to be the only accredited therapeutic riding centre in the Ottawa area. In addition to ensuring our staff and facility are certified, we support high-quality standards in equine-assisted activities by arranging trainings, certifications, clinics and workshops at our facility.
Our Vision
To grow as a center of excellence for therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted programs that is recognized in our community and beyond.

What We Offer
Adaptive Riding
Adaptive riding includes therapeutic mounted riding programs. Guided by certified instructors, specifically designed for individuals with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities. This activity aims to enhance strength, balance, confidence, and motor skills. At TROtt, we provide various mounted adaptive riding programs tailored to meet the unique goals of each rider including therapeutic riding, para-dressage, and special olympics programs.
Ground Based Programming
TROtt provides ground based programs for individuals or groups with disabilities or injuries persuing personal well-being goals. Using horses, our unmounted ground based programs focus on developing life skills and can be tailored to one-on-one or group activities, ranging from a single session to multiple sessions based on participants' goals.
Team

Horses
The stars of the show! Meet the wonderful horses of TROtt.
TROtt’s horses are chosen for their temperament, size, breed, type of gait and other important qualities. New horses are taken through an extensive training period which enables TROtt to provide a safe, structured, goal-oriented program. Once in the herd, they continue with on-going training to fine tune those skills. These very special horses are the key to the physical, social, cognitive and educational activities that we offer at TROtt.
Volunteer
Join Our Team!
TROtt is made even more special by the wonderful people who donate their time every week. Whether it’s working with our amazing students, our wonderful horses or maintaining the property and doing chores, our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure everyone who comes to TROtt feels welcome and celebrated.
